Owen McKevitt left Co Louth for America in the 1870s. He married Margaret Oakes from the parish of Carlingford in SanFrancisco in 1874. The parish of Carlingford at that time would have included a good deal of the Cooley Peninsula.The name McAdara is the Gaelic name for Oakes.
