I lived in The Corner House (now the Carlingford Arms) with my parents from 1960 to 1963, which were the most memorable and interesting years of my life. Apart from the girls at the time, there is one thing that's stays in my memory. I've always been intrigued by mysterious places. One day I went down into the cellar with a hammer and chisel to investigate a bricked-up doorway. After half hour of work I broke through and there was a draft. Then my father lifted me out by the collar saying: are you trying to demolish the house? and that was the end of that, I was barred. I never found out what is in there or where it might have lead to, a tunnel maybe? Hopefully not to do with Leprechauns!
