View of Carlingford from the sea

I have many memories of Carlingford, the Carry On weeks during the summer with the Street Sports, Regatta. The weather was always fantastic. Before the street sports began which was on a Sunday there was a fancy dress and it started at Chapel Hill and they paraded down to Newry Street to the Garda Station. We sat on the Garda station wall. Another memory of Carlingford was after mass on a Sunday we would go to Woods for our ice cream - homemade!! I always remember when coming into the shop peeking through the door into their kitchen at the back! I remember the opera Mrs Dineen put on in the Hall, it was Hansel and Gretel - I played the part of Gretel and Eileen Irwin played Hansel, Cecelia O'Rourke was the witch, Eilish O'Callaghan played the part of the mother and Emer Rogan the father. At that concert the choir did singing and choral speaking. We had little uniforms which were red gingham skirts, white shirts and red gingham dickie bows. Many many happy memories - great days and a wonderful community. Thank you Kevin for the wonderful trip down memory lane.
